Discounts

Here are a list of First Responder / Firefighter discounts available. Note that there are restrictions, so read the fine print. In general, deals are for you, not for your family members, and you’re limited to how much per year you can spend at each store.

Oakley

Click on the Oakley Forces link to visit the site. The “Forces Program” link at the top of the website describes the program. There’s a link to register as well. On the registration form, the left is for your information, the right side of the form is about our department, so use the hall address and phone number. You will need to upload your ID card, or fax it to the number listed. I sent them my firefighter ID card as well as my First Responder ID card from the EMA Licensing board. They approved my account pretty quickly, about 1 day later if I remember correctly.

One you are registered and approved, click on the Products link to see what you can get. They have apparel, eyewear, footwear, gloves, watches, bags & packs, etc… In general, they seem to offer 30% off retail pricing.

Promotive.com

http://www.Promotive.com

Promotive.com doesn’t actually sell any products, but they are company that verifies your First Responder / Firefighter status and then gets you special deals with many different brands. Once you’re account gets approved you browse the brands available on the Promotive.com site, then click the logo that takes you through a backdoor for each company website with discounted pricing. There are about 63 brands currently available to First Responders & Firefighters, a few of them include: PowerBar, Helly Hansen, Mountain Ops, SkullCandy, Oneal, Smith & Wesson, Liberty Skis, Kershaw, OtterBox, LifeProof, Spyderco, Loki, and a bunch of other brands I haven’t really heard of. Some are pretty good deals, some are OK, really depends on the individual company.

ID.me

http://www.ID.me

Id.me is similar to Promotive, but different. ID.me offers deals two ways. First there is a discount like promotive does, however, many of the discounts seem to be the same that the public gets anyways. Secondly, there is a cash-back component too. So as you spend money, you get an additional credit back to your account above the original discount. Its the “cash back” part that seems to be the only advantage to what ID.me brings. Some of the cash-back deals are up to 5% but mostly zero to 2 or 3%. Nothing too exciting. Although ID.me has many good brands, like BestBuy, Walmart, Amazon, UnderArmour, the deals aren’t great, and many aren’t available to Canadians. For example, I checked UnderArmour and they did apply a 10% firefighter discount to items in my shopping cart, and in theory I’d get another 5.3% cash back. However, this deal only worked on the US UnderArmour store, not the Canadian one…
